James Law’s speech representing Hong Kong entitled “CATASTROPHE THROUGH HOUSING CRISIS IN HONG KONG - New Designs for Housing for a Better Fairer World” at The Economic Times Sustainable Development Goals Impact Summit 2019 in Delhi.
Centred on UN Sustainable Development Goal No.11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities, the speech illustrated Hong Kong as one of the wealthiest cities in the world has begun to show symptoms of its own unsustainability through many issues including the lack of affordable housing in a society of a divisive wealth gaps. Hong Kong may soon be a good example of how rich and fast growing urbanised cities and communities must watch out from the risks of falling into social chaos and disenchantment through inequitable politics, economics, social services and housing.
